I love wine, but not every day, and not a whole bottle at a time (like my ex). Living alone, I almost never open a bottle unless friends are over for dinner. But with this pump, I can, and it lets me salvage any leftover juice. On average, red wine has lasted me 2-3 more days than if I wasn't using the pump. I noticed some folks were complaining about the lack of instructions. Guys, it's a pump. It takes out air. You put the stopper in the bottle, pump on top, and... pump out the air. When you hear a click, which is apparently a patented indicator held by Vacu Vin, you know you've reached "optimum vacuum level." Easy as taking a swig. The stoppers are made of rubber and the pump is plastic. It feels cheap (expected for the price) but I've dropped it here and there and it stands up to my abuse. I even use the Vacu Vin to keep other things fresh, like coffee. Suddenly, empty wine bottles have many more uses.

Plenty of people think, "why would I ever open a bottle of wine and not finish it?" You're probably correct (and we would probably be good friends). But this can do so much more. If your friends come over and pop some Prosecco, the Vacu Vin can keep that thing bubbly until the end of the night. It also works with hard alcohols should you lose the cap (in drunken confusion). I highly recommend having one of these on hand. Even for that rare occasion that your friends accidentally open two bottles of wine at once!

It works great sealing my wine and whiskey bottles. The directions advise not to lay the bottle, but my wine cooler doesn't have an upright section so I lay it and it has never leaked. I read a lot of articles that say these pumps do not make a difference. Whether it is psychological or fact, I did notice my wine remains more consistent and stable over a few days when using this pump vs traditional recorking. I figured using these stoppers wouldn't hurt with my whiskey, especially since it takes me longer to finish a bottle. The stoppers are easy to clean too. Just remove the top, rinse, air dry. I have yet to find a wine/whiskey bottle it does not fit but I have mostly traditional 750ml styles.

This is a great gift for any wine lover, easy and effective (I found a bottle of Chardonnay in bottom of fridge, had been there for month..... it was still good). Best /safest if bottle is standing up when using the Vacu. If you lay the bottle down, make sure not to hit the Vacu, as it will release the pressure = leaks. Do not buy from the seller I used a few weeks back (March 2019), if you want to use it as a gift... it came in an envelope, though padded, the Vacu box was smashed up.

super easy to use, and it works. it definatly extends the life of the wine. In the fridge for several weeks, actually red has lasted about a month in the fridge with this, room temp it gives about 2 weeks, at least that is as long as I have needed it to work and it has with no noticible change in flavor. easy to clean. so you pop out cork, stick this weird looking plug in, put the pump thing on top , give a full pumps, hear the pop, and your done. It also has not leaked when falling over on side in fridge.

I bought this for a couple who love wine more than I do (nearly impossible) after having mine for a couple years, then I bought it again for another friend when she and her hubs bought a house! I will keep buying this as long as there are people who don't have it. Great gift, totally practical, and I have no worries that it's going to hold up for years to come!

Wow! I have had this for about 5 months now - it works great! I drink red wine quite a bit and almost always leave a glass or two in the bottle. Prior to buying this, that glass or two is basically vinegar within 1 to 2 days (depending on the type of wine). If you have a half bottle or more remaining, this pump will keep that half bottle tasting like it was just opened for 3-4 days. If you have ~1 glass left in the bottle, expect this pump to keep the wine good for a day or two. Would I buy it again? Yes - I paid $12.63 and it was definitely worth it. A word to the wise - there are a bunch of these on Amazon from a variety of sellers. Look at the bottle stoppers - these have two ridges and curve at the top to seal the bottle well. Make sure the bottle stopper looks similar to this before buying from a different seller.

It took me a while to get the hang of this but I love it now!! Wet the outer-edge of the stopper, place the stopper inside your wine bottle, then begin to pump. Once you hear it do a "click, click" noise, you have vacuumed the air out. To release the stopper (letting air back in), just press the center piece of the stopper to one side.

I bought this about 3.5 years ago for my husband and he's been using it ever since. It was the first vacuum pump he had ever tried with his wine bottles so we really didn't think much of it. It did what it was supposed to do and you can feel it working with each pump getting gradually harder as the air into bottle runs out. When it is completely vacuumed the pump makes a clicking noise to indicate that you are done. Easy-Peasy. Well recently I bought my husband a new pump that came with 6 stoppers since sometimes we have parties and have more than two bottles left open and unfinished. The new one I got is a different brand entirely but I liked it because it had plenty of extra stoppers. Turns out this one is so much better!! The other one makes no indication of when you are done sucking out the air. The pumps don't get easier so the first pump feels the same as the 100th pump. When you pull the pump off the little stopper does seem to be secure but you can pull it out without pushing the air release button so it can't work that well. Anyhow, all this to say this Vacu Vin Wine Saver is the one to get. I will just buy some more little stoppers for the pump we already have and return the pump I just bought that was more money and didn't work.

Now I can enjoy that "just opened the bottle" flavor for several days! Easy and convenient to use, well worth the price. Solid construction....should last a while. I love this thing. **UPDATE: after using this for several months, the plunger started sounding noisy. Easily fixed... Just pull the plunger all the way up and apply a very tiny amount of vaseline to the inside surface of the housing, and then slide the plunger up and down. It is now smooth and quiet again!
