Politics? Really?
I'm on page 7 and already, "While every day, some of us are hoping someone else gets arrested for treason!" WHY DOES EVERY SINGLE THING HAVE TO INVOLVE POLITICS? I don't even want to finish reading at this point and will likely return. Holy jeez. Again on page 9 about an ingrown toenail in a red hat being elected. I didn't even vote for the guy. I'm so sick of having it shoved in my face 24/7. I don't understand how Ms. Knight is a best-selling author. I just don't get it. Some millennials and younger probably like it.
Waste of time
It seems to me that this author just needed to fill up pages to meet the requirements of her book contract. There is not one bit of useful info in this book. I kept thinking that I should write a book if this is all it takes. Way too much "humor" and not one nugget of wisdom in it. Do not waste your time or money with this rambling little book of no value. I don't know that I have ever returned a book before but this is either going back or going in the garbage because I wouldn't want anyone else to waste their time on it.
Skip It
It takes a lot for me to go out and write a review on something and this book has earned my bad review. I’ve tried to finish this book and can’t. It’s filled with useless drivel and gives you no tactics at all. Things that are the most irritating: 1.) one of the reasons we’re supposed to trust her is because she had a best selling book in the past, so she she knows what she talks about. 2.) I really could care less that she lives in the Dominican Republic...she treats it like a feather in her cap, like she’s winning and that’s why you should listen to her advice. 3.) Unnecessary political references. I really don’t care what you think about the president. 4.) Repeated mentions about having to get chapters done and sent off to her agent/publisher. It’s obvious she didn’t have enough material to write this or it wouldn’t have come up numerous times. My biggest disappointment is the time I wasted reading this while I could have been reading something useful.
Don’t waste your money
Crap. In the first few pages she bashed the president twice I didn’t buy this book for her political views Very disappointed and if I could return it I would
I wish I could get a refund
I really enjoyed Knight’s first book, and her follow-ups were ok. But I didn’t get anything out of this one. I like her sarcastic humor but it felt overdone in Calm the F*uck Down, and I basically skimmed the last half. Disappointing.
Not a fan
Where to begin...This is a compact book and I'm guessing if it had been the size or a normal book it would only have been 150 pages instead of 290 ( including the Epilogue, Acknowledgments and Index). I painstakingly made it through to page 137 and had to stop. There were several jabs at President Trump that didn't add any value to the book and should have been left out. There was a LOT of self promotion for her other books and a ton of repetition and filler. I do not recommend this book to anyone. I don't see how it made the best sellers list at all. It did nothing to help my anxiety and after reading what it did caused me a great deal of frustration due to the time invested in something that I could have googled.
So good..... I deleted it
So good......I deleted it Too much ranting without much assistance
Humorous and helpful!
Whether a problem is big or small, whether or not it has a solution, worrying is not going to fix anything. While this book might not tell you anything you don't know, it delivers the message with humor and kindness (and, yes, snark as well) that might make it stick this time. I also appreciated that it acknowledges not all worry is created equally, we each react to the world around us in some ways that are unique to ourselves, and perhaps most importantly that some kinds of anxiety are best treated medically (and that's okay!).
Horrible.
This book is TERRIBLE. Please don’t waste your money on it. It seems like the biggest “problem” this author ever had to face was the fact that a tarantula got into her house once, a story of which she goes on about for what seems like forever. In this she basically just plugs her other books and acts as though she’s superior, speaking to the reader in an almost condescending tone throughout. There is literally nothing in this book that helped me with my anxiety, and I feel like this woman is a total fraud. It’s like she wrote this for the dumbest possible audience. Horrible.
Another great read, apply tactics immediately!
I always love Sarah’s practical advice and the way she delivers it. I find her books to be some of the the most logical (I loved the logicats!) and find my self applying her no nonsense tactics daily. I recommend all four of her books. And she’s funny as hell! Thanks Sarah, I needed this!
